《新会志》有《白沙弟子传》。弟子一百余六人,以伍云为首。云字光宇,新会人,与李子长并知名。然白沙之门,见道清彻,尤以林先生光为最。光字缉熙,东莞人,所上白沙书,得力过于甘泉,可直接白沙学脉,《弟子传》当首缉熙。白沙尝语人云:“从吾游而能见此道践履者,惟缉熙耳。”甘泉亦云:“白沙夫子,崛起南方,溯濂雒以达于洙泗。当是时得其门而入者,南川一人。”南川者缉熙也。

The "Xinhui County Gazetteer" contains the "Biographies of Baisha's Disciples," which records 106 disciples of Chen Baisha, with Wu Yun listed first. Wu Yun, courtesy name Guangyu, was from Xinhui and equally famous as Li Zichang. However, among Master Baisha's disciples, the one who most clearly and thoroughly understood and practiced his teachings was particularly Master Lin Guang. Lin Guang, courtesy name Jixi, was from Dongguan. The understanding and effort demonstrated in the letters he submitted to Master Baisha surpassed that of Zhan Gan Quan, making him capable of directly inheriting Master Baisha's academic lineage. Therefore, the "Biographies of Baisha's Disciples" should rightfully place Lin Jixi first. Chen Baisha once told others: "Among those who study with me and are truly able to understand and practice this Way, there is only Jixi." Zhan Gan Quan also said: "Master Baisha rose in the south; his learning traced back through Zhou Dunyi and the Cheng brothers (Lian-Luo Neo-Confucianism) directly to the orthodox lineage of Confucius and Mencius (Zhu-Si Confucianism). At that time, the only one who truly entered his inner circle and grasped the essence of his teachings was Nan Chuan (Lin Guang)." The Nan Chuan mentioned here is Lin Jixi.
