  斗姥像在肇庆七星岩,名摩利支天菩萨,亦名天后。花冠璎珞,赤足,两手合掌,两手擎日月,两手握剑。天女二,捧盘在左右,盘一羊头,一兔头,前总制熊文灿之所造也。文灿招抚郑芝龙时,使芝龙与海寇刘香大战,菩萨见形空中,香因败灭。文灿以为菩萨即玄女,蚩尤为暴时,黄帝仰天而叹,天遣玄女下,授黄帝兵符伏蚩尤。又尝下天女曰〈鬼女〉,以止蚩尤风雨。古圣人用兵,皆以神女为助,于是倾赀十余万为宫殿极其壮丽以答之。论者谓,文灿当时以此十余万金钱募召壮士,为朝廷办贼,必有功业可观。当剿贼时,菩萨何不再见,岂所谓福无重至者耶。

斗姥的神像位于肇庆七星岩,她又名摩利支天菩萨,也被称为天后。神像头戴花冠,身佩璎珞,赤着双脚,有两手合掌,两手托举日、月,还有两手握着剑。左右两边各有一位天女侍立,手捧盘子,盘中分别放着一个羊头和一个兔头。这尊像是前任总督熊文灿建造的。熊文灿招抚郑芝龙期间,让郑芝龙与海盗刘香大战。据说战斗时,这位菩萨在空中显现了真身,刘香因此被打败并消灭。熊文灿认为这位菩萨就是玄女——传说蚩尤作乱时,黄帝曾仰天长叹,上天便派遣玄女下凡,授予黄帝兵法符印,帮助他降伏了蚩尤;还曾派遣名为“鬼女”的天女下凡,阻止蚩尤兴风作雨。熊文灿认为古代圣贤用兵打仗,都有神女相助,于是耗费十多万(两)银子修建了极其壮丽的宫殿来报答神恩。但有评论者说,熊文灿当时如果用这十多万钱财去招募勇士,为朝廷剿灭贼寇,必定能建立可观的功业。(他们质疑)后来剿贼的时候,菩萨为什么不再显灵呢?难道真是应了那句“好事不会接连发生”的话吗?

The statue of Doumu (Dipper Mother) is located at the Seven Star Crags in Zhaoqing. She is also known as Marici Bodhisattva and also called Tianhou (Empress of Heaven). The statue wears a floral crown and necklaces (Yingluo), is barefoot, has two hands clasped in prayer, two hands holding the sun and moon, and two hands grasping swords. Two celestial maidens stand on her left and right, holding plates; one plate contains a sheep's head, the other a rabbit's head. This statue was commissioned by the former Governor-General Xiong Wencan. During the period when Xiong Wencan was pacifying Zheng Zhilong, he had Zheng Zhilong fight fiercely against the pirate Liu Xiang. It is said that during the battle, the Bodhisattva manifested herself in the sky, leading to Liu Xiang's defeat and destruction. Xiong Wencan believed this Bodhisattva was Xuannü (Mysterious Woman) – legend tells that when Chiyou caused turmoil, the Yellow Emperor sighed looking up at the sky, and Heaven dispatched Xuannü to descend and grant the Yellow Emperor military tallies to subdue Chiyou; Heaven also once sent down a celestial maiden called "Gui Nü" (Ghost Woman?) to stop Chiyou's storms. Xiong Wencan believed that ancient sages always received aid from divine women when waging war, so he spent over one hundred thousand (taels) of silver to build an extremely magnificent palace temple in gratitude. However, critics commented that if Xiong Wencan had used that sum of money at the time to recruit brave soldiers and eliminate bandits for the court, he surely could have achieved notable accomplishments. (They questioned) why the Bodhisattva did not manifest again during later bandit suppression campaigns. Could it be true, as the saying goes, that "blessings do not arrive twice in a row"?
