孝子墓凡二,皆在永安。其在县北牛塘大山头之下者,孝子黄让所葬。在县西林田张八岭者,让子启愚、启鲁所葬。父子三孝,故皆称孝子墓。让墓无碑碣,然永安人无不知为黄孝子墓者。大钧尝过之,书于石曰:"父孝子,子孝子。牛塘与林田,两坟隔十里。牛塘不封树,行人罔不指。"启愚、启鲁墓,有石书曰:"大明孝子黄启愚、启鲁之墓。"石广二尺,长三尺五寸,左右白垔刻二鹤二兔,坛砌方砖五,花石方圆大小不一。父子事载《永安志》,墓则予所补书云。

称为“孝子墓”的有两处,都在永安县(今广东紫金县)。位于县城北面牛塘大山头下面的那一处,是孝子黄让安葬的地方。位于县城西面林田张八岭的那一处,是黄让的儿子黄启愚、黄启鲁安葬的地方。因为父亲和两个儿子都是孝子,所以这两处墓地都被称为孝子墓。黄让的墓没有墓碑,但是永安县没有人不知道那是黄孝子的墓。我(屈大均)曾经路过那里,在一块石头上写道:“父亲是孝子,儿子也是孝子。牛塘和林田这两个地方,两处坟墓相隔十里路。牛塘的(黄让)墓虽然没有封土堆也没有种植树木标记,但过路的行人没有不指认(知道是黄孝子墓)的。”黄启愚、黄启鲁的墓,则有一块石碑,上面写着:“大明孝子黄启愚、启鲁之墓。”这块石碑宽二尺,长三尺五寸,左右两边用白色材料(可能是白灰或镶嵌物)雕刻着两只鹤和两只兔子,墓前的祭坛铺着五块方砖,还有一些形状大小不一的花纹石块。关于这对父子孝行的事迹记载在《永安县志》里,而关于墓地的描述则是我在这里补充记述的。

There are two locations known as the "Filial Son Tombs," both situated in Yong'an County (present-day Zijin County, Guangdong). The one located north of the county seat, beneath Dashantou in Niutang, is the burial place of the filial son Huang Rang. The one located west of the county seat, at Zhangbaling in Lintian, is the burial place of Huang Rang's sons, Huang Qiyu and Huang Qilu. Because the father and his two sons were all renowned for their filial piety, both burial sites are called Filial Son Tombs. Huang Rang's tomb lacks a stele or inscription, yet everyone in Yong'an County knows it is the tomb of Huang the Filial Son. I (Qu Dajun) once passed by it and wrote on a stone: "The father a filial son, the sons filial sons. Niutang and Lintian, the two tombs are ten li apart. Though the Niutang tomb has no mound or marking trees, no passerby fails to point it out." The tomb of Huang Qiyu and Huang Qilu has a stone inscription that reads: "Tomb of the Ming Dynasty Filial Sons Huang Qiyu and Huang Qilu." This stone is two chi wide and three and a half chi long. On its left and right sides, two cranes and two rabbits are carved using white material (possibly plaster or inlay). The altar platform is paved with five square bricks, and there are patterned stones of various round and square shapes and sizes. The filial deeds of the father and sons are recorded in the 'Annals of Yong'an County' (Yong'an Zhi), while the description of the tombs is supplemented by my writing here.
